In this optical illusion, do you see one continuous line or a bunch or small pieces, not quite straight?

Scroll down for the answer and explanation.

This is one continuous line.

Explanation

In this optical illusion, it does look like the continuous line is broken up into small pieces which are close together, but not quite straight.

When we see a sharp angle, our eyes bridge or fill the small gaps, and this makes the straight line appear broken up. Simultaneously, we get the same effect as the Contrast Grid Optical Illusion, where the intersections of these two heavy lines appear somewhat gray, increasing the effect.
